This Vicki Rorex Hoffman Memorial Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded annually to a Farmington High School graduate who has received special services and has been accepted into an accredited post-secondary college, vocational and/or technical school.  Vicki Rorex Hoffman spent her teaching career serving students with special needs. She was active in middle school life, serving as the middle school cheerleading sponsor. She was a true professional who also served her colleagues as President of the Farmington Community Teachers Association. Vicki loved teaching at Farmington Middle School. She spent her last four and a half years battling cancer and continued to teach as long as she was able. During that time, she made frequent trips to Houston, Texas for treatment. Vicki was a warrior in her battle with cancer. Vicki taught not just the students in her classes, but she also taught the student body and the middle school staff. She taught them how to face adversity with grace, dignity, and humor. Vicki always said, “There are no bad days.” Vicki’s strength and spirit left an imprint on her colleagues, and she will live on in the memories of those who had the honor of knowing her. She was tenacious, compassionate, kind, and caring to her students and anyone she met. After her death, her fellow teachers and family members established this scholarship in her name to honor her legacy as a special education teacher.
